CHANGES to Fareham’s car parks have come into effect.
As previously reported in The News, Fareham short-stay and long-stay car parks have been rebranded to inner and outer car parks, reflecting how far away they are from the town centre.
The changes came into effect from the start of April.
It is now cheaper to park in Malthouse Lane and Trinity Street car parks as they have been rebranded as outer car parks, where previously they were short-stay.
It costs 70p an hour to park in outer car parks and £3.50 all day.
Other changes include the removal of the five-hour limit in the inner car parks, so motorists can now stay as long as they like in any Fareham town centre car park.
Free parking is available on Sundays in all outer car parks.
Parking in inner car parks is £1 per hour, the same as the previous short-stay car parks.
Market Quay, which is the only premium car park, remains at £1.50 per hour.
Parking charges on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday have been scrapped.
