THE Hayling Ferry is cancelled all week as essential maintenance is carried out on the ship.
Hayling Ferry Limited has been taken it out of the water for the work to take place and to complete its annual inspection by regulators Maritime Coastal Agency.
This inspection is usually done just before Christmas, but those at the ferry firm felt it made more sense to cancel crossings during half term as many children use it to get to school.
Bruce Cremer, from the operator, said: ‘This seemed like an ideal time to have an engineer carry out the work because the kids are off school.’
Services should return to normal on Monday.
The decision means that the ferry will now run until Christmas Eve.
