Queues for disrupted cross-Solent ferry services caused congestion Portsmouth today.

A city council spokesman said this afternoon: ‘There are serious delays approaching Wightlink terminal due to delayed sailings. Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.’

Wightlink said its Portsmouth - Fishbourne car ferry services were delayed by up to an hour because of fog and overrunning engineering works.
