BUS fares are set to rise for passengers living in Hampshire.

First Bus will be raising the prices of each single and return ticket by between 5p and 50p from January 1.

A FirstDay adult pass for Portsmouth will become £4.

The firm has blamed the increase on rising fuel costs and reductions in funding.

Matthew Kitchin, general manager for First in Hampshire, said: ‘We have kept the increases as small as we have been able to, and where possible have frozen some of the most popular fares.’
