FIRST Hampshire have confirmed they will begin using a mobile payment app.

As part of their mobile ticketing service, First buses will offer their passengers the option of paying using Barclays Pingit.

Marc Reddy, managing director of First, Hampshire, Dorset and Berkshire, said: ‘This reflects our commitment to making bus travel better, easier, and more convenient.’

First buses hope that the new way of paying will encourage people to use the bus more often, and will bring them to the forefront of bus ticketing technology.

‘It is a totally secure way of making payments that are also quick.’

Barclays Pingit is an app that is similar to the London Oyster. Passengers can simply download the app and buy their tickets on the go. From here, the mTickets are stored in a virtual wallet and are ready to use when the passenger needs to.
