A NEW cycle map of Fareham has been produced to encourage more people to get cycling.

Hampshire County Council and Fareham Borough Council have produced 5,500 copies of a map to highlight the number of dedicated routes in the borough and encourage more people to take in the sights.

Councillor Keith Mans, the county council’s executive member for communities, said: ‘A local cycle map will encourage cycling throughout the borough by residents, visitors and tourists.

‘It promotes a healthy lifestyle therefore contributing towards improved health and wellbeing, as well as reducing congestion.’

The maps are available now from the borough council customer service centre in Civic Way, libraries and community centres.
