A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a crash.

The 33-year-old Gosport man was riding a white BMW motorbike that collided with a recovery truck on the A272 at Wellfield Copse near West Meon.

Paramedics and a doctor from South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust were called out following the accident at about 2.30pm yesterday.

However the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver, a 40-year-old man from Midhurst, was unhurt.

The road was closed for nearly six hours while police carried out an investigation, recovered the vehicles and removed debris from the scene.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: ‘Reports came in of an incident involving a cyclist and a lorry.

‘We responded with two ambulances and a doctor.

‘We worked on scene for an extended amount of time but unfortunately the patient was declared deceased at [the] scene.’
