HOVERCRAFT services between Southsea and the Isle of Wight will be disrupted until at least Thursday following a fire onboard a craft at the weekend.

Hovertravel, which operates the Southsea to Ryde service, said on Wednesday morning it was only running one hovercraft while parts for a second are sourced following a fire on Sunday evening.

Commuter services were affected on Wednesday morning, with a number of flights abandoned.

On Wednesday, flights at 4.30pm, 5pm, 5.30pm leaving Ryde and those leaving Southsea at 4.45pm, 5.15pm and 5.45pm have been cancelled.

On Thursday morning, flights leaving Ryde at 7.30am and 8am and Southsea at 7.45am and 8.15am will also not run.

The company said it ‘apologises for any inconvenience’ on its website.

Crafts leaving Ryde at 7.30am, 8am and 8.30am towards Southsea were cancelled on Wednesday morning, with Ryde-bound services at 7.45am and 8.15am are also not in operation.

Services have been disrupted since a fire broke out onboard one of the craft on Sunday evening in Ryde following a flight from Southsea.
