TWO drivers had to be taken to hospital after their cars collided near a road junction.

Police were called to London Road, near its junction with Merrivale Road in North End in Portsmouth, at about 9.50pm last night.

The pregnant female driver of a Nissan was not injured but she was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, so doctors could check that her unborn baby was okay.

The male driver of an Astra suffered whiplash and firefighters from Cosham had to cut off the roof his car to get him out.

He was then put into an ambulance and taken to QA Hospital.

His injuries were not considered to be serious.
