A YOUNG driver had a lucky escape when her car spun out of control and ended up on its roof.

The 18-year-old was driving a green Kia on the A27 westbound, just past the Langstone sliproad, when she hit the central reservation at 8.10am.

It caused major delays for commuters travelling towards Portsmouth.

PC Mel Adcock said: ‘Basically she misjudged the speed of the traffic ahead, lost control of the vehicle and hit the central reservation.

‘She is fine. She has gone off to hospital as a precautionary measure. She is a lucky girl.’

Officers managed to move the vehicle from lane two so it was only blocking lane one.

It led to long delays on the road.
