Three lorries have crashed on a busy stretch of motorway causing long delays for motorists.

The accident happened at Bursledon, approaching junction 8 after Hamble bridge at 8.33am.

Police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue are on the scene and one man is being cut from his cab by firefighters.

The M27 westbound junction 9 carriageway has been closed until further notice.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: ‘We were called to the scene at 8.30am where three HGV’s have collided.

‘A male was trapped in his cab and is being cut out.

‘Firefighters from High Town, Fareham and Cosham are on scene.

‘He isn’t thought to be seriously injured.’

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed to assist.

Police are turning around trapped traffic between junction 9 and the scene of the accident.

Motorists are warned to expect long delay.
