FOUR cars have been involved in an accident which blocked a major road for more than an hour.

The A32 Brockhurst Road in Gosport was closed in both directions between Elson Road and Station Road from around 10.15am today.

Police have said four people were injured in the crash and one of the injuries was serious.

Two cars, one of which was leaking diesel, had to be recovered before the road was re-opened at around 11.30am.

South Central Ambulance Service spokesman James Keating-Wilkes said: ‘One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

‘There was one male who was shaken up and he was out of the vehicle so he was okay.’

Two fire crews from Gosport fire station removed the roof of one of the cars.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance landed nearby but was not used.
