THE number of people using ferries has increased over the past year.

Ferry passengers travelling to and from the continent went up by 7.2 per cent to 5.7m over the last three months to the end of July, compared with the same period last year.

All UK ferry sectors have shown an increase in cars transported in July too, with over a million carried on board.

That’s a six per cent overall increase on this month last year.
