DRIVERS have faced the first morning rush-hour after the closure of a major road.

A section of Wych Lane, near the junction of the A32 in Gosport, shut on Monday for 10 months of work building the controversial Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).

The demolition of the railway bridge over the road is due to begin tomorrow (March 9) to make way for a new junction.

Wych Lane resident Charlie Wouters, 53, said: ‘I think it can only improve things at the end of the day.

‘You have to put up with a bit of inconvenience if you want improvements made.

‘Bringing the bridge down will stop kids from throwing rocks at passing cars at least.’

Traffic is being diverted through Gregson Avenue and Cunningham Drive.
