THE emergency services are dealing with a serious accident which has caused part of the A3M to be closed.

The collision, between a Ford Transit van and a combine harvester occurred at 4.30pm on the northbound carriageway at Liss, one mile south of Ham Barn roundabout.

But it has caused tailbacks much further back along the motorway to Petersfield. A section of road will remain closed until around 9.30pm and diversions are in place.

The male driver of the van has been taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries. No one else was hurt.

Roads policing officers are at the scene.
