THE M275 will be closed for further resurfacing works to be carried out.

The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight on Monday and Tuesday, and both carriageways will be shut on Wednesday and Thursday.

The work is part of an ongoing project to build an extra slip road off the M275 at Tipner, and as part of general maintenance of the motorway.

Portsmouth City Council says the motorway closures could start as early as 8pm on the evenings in question, but are more likely to start from 10pm.

Traffic will be diverted via Twyford Avenue and the Portsbridge roundabout. All lanes will reopen by 5.30am.

The council said the night-time closures have led to minimal disruption to drivers due to the low levels of traffic using the M275 overnight.
