FRIDAY evenings at Southampton Airport are being given a musical twist this summer as the airport plays host to a series of short musical performances by talented local musicians.

The season began last Friday and will continue throughout the summer.

Music in the Air is a collaboration between Southampton Music Service and Southampton Airport. It will see a range of musicians from saxophonists to acoustic rock bands, youth swing groups and electric string acts entertain passengers as they arrive and depart.

Hazel Screech, terminal operations manager, said: ‘We are very excited to offer a second season of live music for our passengers.

‘Working with Southampton Music Service allows us to showcase local talent while providing a warm welcome for our passengers.’

Each Friday evening will feature a different group of musicians and style of music to keep the terminal entertainment fresh and lively.

Musicians will entertain passengers from 5.30pm.
