NEW streetlighting is on its way for Wickham.

Hampshire County Council’s street lighting replacement programme will be arriving in Wickham this month.

The new lighting in the village will see the replacement of approximately 117 lanterns and a further 100 lanterns and posts.

The scheme is part of a county-wide programme to upgrade around 150,000 street lights with the latest energy-efficient technology.

A council spokesman said: ‘This investment will help improve the county’s energy efficiency, reduce energy costs and cut carbon emissions.

‘The new lamps will improve lighting levels on the ground, reduce light pollution at night and help make people feel safer in town centres and residential streets.’
