DRIVERS are being warned to avoid two Portsmouth roads which are being resurfaced from Monday next week.

The city council said Langstone Road, Milton, and Hayling Avenue, Copnor, will both need to be closed while work is being carried out on them.

The roads will be worked on one at a time – between 9am and 5pm – but the council said this may continue to the weekend, ‘depending on the weather’.

Colas, the city council’s highways contractor, will notify residents by letter the day before work starts.

Pavements will still be open, so residents will still have access to their homes at all times.

Steve Johns, Colas’s surfacing agent, said: ‘We’re sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

‘The works are necessary to bring up the standards of the road as both roads are popular routes.

‘We hope the public can bear with us during our works and we thank them for their kind patience and understanding.’
