A PEDESTRIAN was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Cowplain.

The 53-year-old woman was crossing Padnell Road when the accident happened.

A black Seat was travelling east in slow-moving traffic.

The woman, from Waterlooville, was hit by the front of the car and the windscreen before landing on the road.

Police and paramedics were called shortly after 4pm on Tuesday.

The woman was left with pelvis and head injury and was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.

The driver of the Seat, a 37-year-old woman from Waterlooville, was uninjured.

PC Steve Wootton, from Fratton Roads Policing Unit, said: ‘We’re looking to speak to any drivers who were in Padnell Road in stationary traffic at the time of the incident and any pedestrians who were in the area who may have seen what happened to contact us.’
