A PENSIONER escaped serious injury after crashing her car into the front of a maisonette.

The 82-year-old was driving her white Ford Fiesta in Rookwood View, Denmead, when she hit a wall at the front of the building and damaged the front door.

The woman was checked by South Central Ambulance Service after the incident at 5.30pm last night, but was unhurt.

A Scas spokeswoman said: ‘A lady of 82 was conscious and breathing and was checked over at the scene.’

No-one inside the maisonette was hurt.

Firefighters from Cosham and Waterlooville ensured the wall was secure by putting in timber.

Hampshire Constabulary put the incident down to ‘driver error’ and no further action was taken.
