Police say the woman who died when she was hit by a train at Portchester rail station was a 69-year-old pensioner from the village.

The tragedy happened on Thursday at 2.45pm at Portchester train station.

As reported, British Transport Police shut the station while emergency services dealt with the incident, causing widespread travel delays of up to an hour. Transport police said they were in the process of informing relatives and that the woman’s death was not being treated as suspicious.
