THE public will soon be consulted about plans to reduce the speed limit at a Portsmouth roundabout.

Portsmouth City Council is considering changing the speed limit at Rudmore Roundabout from 40mph to 30mph.

It would reduce the number of signs as surrounding areas are 30mph and help police target motorists who speed.

Councillor Jason Fazackarley, the cabinet member for traffic and transport, said: ‘Clearly we will have to see what representations come forward, but the view here is it’s a sensible move to take and will lead to improved overall safety.’
