The Highways Agency has issued the following list of planned roadworks in central southern England for Monday December 21 and Tuesday December 22

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound entry slip roads at junction 3 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to junction 4.

M3 junctions 5 Hook to 4a Fleet, Hampshire: Geotechnical survey

Work to improve drainage along the M3 in Hampshire takes place this week. The outside lane on both carriageways will be closed for 3.75 miles overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 21 December for 2 nights.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures are in place on the approaches and around the roundabout until March 2016.

A3 Compton to University Interchange Guildford, Surrey: Drainage maintenance

Work to improve road user safety by maintaining drainage along the A3 in Surrey takes place this week. The inside lane will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 21 December for 2 nights.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: Junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 East Ilsley, West Berkshire: Signage

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the road signage along the A34 will finish this week. The northbound exit slip road at East Ilsley will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 22 December, with traffic being diverted via West Ilsley.

A34 Abingdon to Oxford, Oxfordshire: Signage

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the road signage along the A34 will finish this week. A lane closure will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 22 December.

In addition, the northbound exit and entry slip roads at the Abingdon/Marcham junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 22 December, with clearly signed diversions in place via Hinksey Hill and Milton Interchange.

A34 Hinksey Hill to Botley (Oxford), Oxfordshire: Drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage surveys along the A34 will finish this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 22 December.

A404 Burchetts Green, Berkshire to Handy Cross, Buckinghamshire: Barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to sections of the safety barrier will finish this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 22 December.
