A MAN had to be cut free from his car after it collided with another vehicle in Portchester.

Fire crews were called at 3pm yesterday to the junction of Linden Lea and Dore Avenue after the injured driver’s Citroen Saxo collided with a Ford Galaxy people carrier. The motorist inside the Ford Galaxy was unharmed, but firefighters had to remove the roof of the Citroen to get to the man trapped inside.

Medics stretchered him on a spinal board, before taking him to an ambulance.

He was treated at the scene for minor neck injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, for observation.

The junction was closed for an hour by police.
