Portsmouth woman, 25, dies after crash on busy main road

A WOMAN hurt after her car hit a barrier on a busy main road has died.

Gillian Baker, 25, of Second Avenue, Farlington, Portsmouth, was driving a blue Fiat Seicento on the A3 northbound near Buriton when she lost control of the vehicle and hit the nearside barrier.

Miss Baker suffered life threatening injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital following the crash, which happened at 11.35am on August 3 between the Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Buriton slip road.

She died in the early hours of Monday morning.

A 35-year-old Portsmouth man who was also travelling in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. He was treated at the scene.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the car just prior to it.
