ICY conditions and signalling disruptions are causing widespread misery for railway commuters across Portsmouth today.

Southern Rail says signalling issues between Hilsea and Fratton are causing delays of up to 30 minutes.

While South West Trains’ services have been affected by the ice forming on the railway line overnight.

A spokesman for Southern apologised for any inconvenience caused and said: ‘At the moment we’re having to start and terminate services at Chichester.

‘This will continue until about 12pm.

‘But we’re at the mercy of Network Rail and when they’re able to fix it.

‘It could delay journeys by up to 30 minutes.’

While commuters using South West Trains services between Havant and Guildford have been warned they could face delays of up to 20 minutes due to icy conditions in Petersfield.
