PART of a Portsmouth road will be closed this weekend as work continues on the new Somers Town community hub.

Diversions will be in place while the stretch between Isambard Brunel Road and Bradford Junction is shut to allow construction firm BAM to keep working on the facility – which spans the dual carriageway.

The road will be closed from 3am on Saturday until 8pm on Sunday.

Pedestrians will not be allowed access to the area during those times

Bus services 1 and 2 will divert via Holbrook Road/Arundel Street and Station Street and the bus stops in Winston Churchill Avenue, at Bradford Junction, Somerstown Health Centre and Isambard Brunel Road will be closed. The alternative bus stop for service 1 is Goldsmith Avenue/Fratton Bridge and the alternative stop for service 2 is Victoria Road North/Bradford Junction.

Neither service will serve Isambard Brunel Road at Charter Academy or the Civic Offices during the closure.

All other local roads will be open as normal.

Motorists, bus passengers, cyclists and other road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
