CHILDREN will be better prepared for the trials and tribulations of life thanks to a council-run course.

More than 850 pupils from 27 schools across East Hampshire attended half-day sessions at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Clanfield, for the Think Safe event.

The scenarios included: what to do in case of a fire, domestic abuse and having healthy relationships, counterfeit goods, dangers of mud, internet safety and peer pressure.

Karen Dawes, community safety manager at East Hampshire District Council, said: ‘These 10 and 11 year olds are given different scenarios to encourage them to Think Safe if they were ever put into that situation.’

Each pupil was also given a Bag for Life donated by Waitrose in Petersfield.
