THREE people had to be cut out of cars and taken to hospital after a seven car pile-up on the M27 westbound this morning.
The incident happened at 6.47am in the third lane of the motorway just before junction 11.
Firefighters cut out one female driver from one of the cars and a male and female from a second car involved.
All three were then taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A fourth person was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police closed all three lanes on arrival while emergency services worked on the scene, and reopened lane three only at 7.34am to allow traffic to flow.
Major tailbacks were caused as a result.
By 8.24am the debris was cleared and all lanes of the motorway reopened.
