A NEW way of paying for parking is being considered in Chichester.

A different system could soon be launched at the Avenue de Chartres multi-storey car park.

Charges would remain the same – the only difference is that customers will pay for the time they have used when they leave the car park, rather than having to buy a ticket when they arrive.

The new machines also accept credit and debit cards.

A public consultation is under way to find out people’s views on car parking in the district. It includes questions about payment methods and ease of use.

If the public is in favour, the payment system could be changed at other car parks.
