SCORES of people braved the wet and cold weather to pick up a free bus pass.

Portsmouth City Council’s My Journey team handed out 108 free passes at a roadshow which was held in Commercial Road, Portsmouth on Saturday.

Shoppers took advantage of the promotion, which is part of Portsmouth City Council’s campaign to encourage residents to travel by bus for short journeys around the city rather than using a car.

The My Journey team have 2,000 free bus passes to give away to Portsmouth residents and they have given away around half.

They spent Saturday giving away cards which are loaded with a day’s free bus travel, valid on both First and Stagecoach, services.

Anyone who missed the team can still get a free travel card by visiting the My Journey website and registering.

The My Journey team will also be giving away travel cards from 10am until 5pm in Commercial Road, Portsmouth on Saturday, February 7 and Saturday, February 14.

In order to receive a free card, residents must be car users and live within the PO1-PO6 postcode areas.

The travel cards are loaded with Portsmouth bus journeys only but can be topped up with additional journeys as required.
