A signals problem caused big delays for rail passengers travelling from the Portsmouth area to Waterloo today.

An earlier signalling snag that stopped trains getting into Waterloo was resolved but commuters were warned to expect delays of up to an hour on services from Portsmouth until 10am.

South West Trains said in a statement: ‘A signalling problem between Wimbledon and Earlsfield has now been resolved and trains are now able to run to and from London Waterloo via Wimbledon. Delays of up to 60 minutes to journeys are expected until services return to normal.’
