Police kept up their campaign against speeding drivers in Hampshire by revealing the woeful excuse of a motorist caught breaking the 70mph motorway limit.
Hampshire Constabulary’s roads policing unit said that among drivers stopped on the fifth day of their crackdown was one caught going to fast in an outside lane.
Police tweeted the motorist’s response as ‘I only did it for a short while.’
They said a ticket was issued, but did not say on which motorway the offence occurred.
Police have published the locations at which they mount mobile speed cameras in order to persuade drivers to keep to the speed limit.
