A YOUNG woman was seriously injured in an accident in the early hours of the morning.

The 17-year-old was crossing Purbrook Way, in Leigh Park, at 1.30am on Saturday when she was hit by a car.

The road was closed while paramedics treated her at the roadside and she was taken to QA Hospital, Cosham, suffering from serious head injuries.

Police believe she walked out in front of a car.

The male driver of the vehicle, a Peugeot 207, was uninjured. Anyone with information should call 101.
