THOUSANDS of motorcyclists are to ride on busy motorways in protest against proposed changes to legislation that could restrict modifications to new bikes.
The Motorcycle Action Group says proposed EU legislation could curb motorcyclists’ ability to modify new bikes, right down to choosing rear tyres.
The group claims it will restrict the sale of some parts and lead to an increase in the cost of new motorbikes and scooters.
Now they have organised a day of action to protest against changes.
Motorcyclists will join the M27 at 1pm on Sunday and ride onto the M3 before dispersing on the M25.
A Motorcycle Action Group spokesman said: ‘What most angers riders is that the EU Commission has failed to provide any evidence for their action.
‘The European Ombudsman has found that there is a case to answer, and the UK government agrees that there is no evidence to substantiate the introduction of the new proposals.’
