Three people escaped with minor injuries after a driver lost control on the M27 in the wet weather early today

Police were called to the incident on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12 of the motorway’s approach to Portsmouth at about 4.15am.

A silver Vauxhall Astra had hit some water on the road before crashing into the barrier on the central reservation.

When emergency services arrived they found the vehicle in a static position on the hard shoulder.

Three of the four people who had been in the car, which was badly damaged, suffered minor injuries and the other was unharmed.

Repairs need to be made later today to the barrier.
