TWO people have been taken to hospital after a major rush hour crash on the M27 involving a lorry.

Hampshire police said the crash, just after 8.30am, happened a mile before the Junction 9 westbound exit for Whiteley.

Ambulance and police services were called to the scene after four or five vehicles were involved in the rear-end shunt.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called to the scene of a four-vehicle road traffic collision at 8.32am.

‘We sent two ambulance crews and a rapid response vehicle.

‘We treated two people who were taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital with possible back injuries.’

Traffic delays have been caused as a result.
