A MAN needed hospital treatment following a two-car smash.

A VW Passat and a Vauxhall Zafira collided near the Elm Grove junction with Victoria Road South in Southsea.

Police shut a stretch of Victoria Road South between Elm Grove and Albert Road for just over an hour following the smash, which happened at about 6.10pm.

Firefighters from Southsea station were called out and cut a passenger out of one of the vehicles.

He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for treatment.

It is not known how serious his injuries are.
