BARONESS Kramer officially welcomed the completion of two major transport projects in Portsmouth today.

The Minister for Transport visited the new Northern Road Bridge, in Cosham, where she gave a speech and watched a time capsule being buried near the site, before making her way to the Tipner park and ride.

Both developments have been joint funded by Portsmouth City Council and the Department for Transport, and Baroness Kramer’s visit helped to celebrate the government’s commitment to help both schemes.

Talking of Northern Road Bridge, Baroness Kramer said: ‘it was lovely to go and see it completed, partly because having looked at the pictures of the old road bridge, what a disaster, what a state of collapse that was in. To see a new bridge that has replaced it which is so attractive is very important because that reflects respect towards the community.’
