TRANSPORT minister Susan Kramer is visiting Portsmouth’s park-and-ride site this afternoon to celebrate its continued success.

Baroness Kramer last visited the Tipner transport hub off the M275 in April this year to mark its official opening.

Since then more than 140,000 visitors have made use of the service, which allows you to park up and take the bus down to The Hard and Commercial Road.

As reported, a review of the park-and-ride system is being carried out in January and it’s hoped plans can get underway to extend the service to Southsea.

Portsmouth City Council anticipates the Southsea connection would be an hourly service and would need a subsidy of around £100,000 a year to run.

Baroness Kramer will also be out knocking doors with Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson, the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Portsmouth South, this evening as he continues to campaign in the run up to next year’s general election.
