TWO motorcyclists are recovering in hospital after a high-speed collision with a car.

The accident happened at midday on Sunday when one of the bikes collided with a Toyota Corolla and the other overturned and caught fire.

All the vehicles were travelling east on the A272 west of Rogate at the junction with Slade Lane.

The rider of the first bike, a 38-year-old man from Bracknell, in Berkshire, was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with serious but not life threatening leg and shoulder injuries.

The 40-year-old rider of the second bike, from Bagshot in Surrey, was airlifted to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham with less serious shoulder and chest injuries.

The 81-year-old man from Verwood, in Dorset, who was driving the car was unhurt.
