UPDATE: A3(M) reopened by police after concern for man's welfare

BOTH sides of the A3(M) have reopened after they were shut while police dealt with a man in distress.

A police spokesman said they shut the road, between Junction 4 and 5, near Havant, just after 2pm today as there was a ‘concern for welfare.’

A man was seen in distress on a bridge across the motorway and the emergency services were called. The man is now safe.

The road was reopened at 2.45pm.

Motorist Dan Ripley was caught in the traffic near to the Bedhampton roundabout. He said: ‘There are signs saying pedestrians in road.’

Romanse Traffic tweeted just before 3pm: ‘All lanes open but delays in both directions.’
