A MAN was flown to hospital after he suffered a heart attack and his car careered off the road and hit a wall.

The incident happened today, at 7.45am, on Botley Road, near Fairthorne Manor, Curdridge.

The road was shut for several hours between Swanwick Lane and the A334.

A police spokeswoman said the man was found unconscious at the wheel, suffering a cardiac arrest, and he was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

The road reopened at 2pm.

No other car is believed to be involved.
