TRAIN services to and from Portsmouth have been disrupted after someone was hit by a train.

Passengers travelling from Portsmouth stations to London Waterloo face delays after someone died when they were hit on the tracks in Surbiton, London at 3.35pm today.

Network Rail is currently running hourly trains between Portsmouth stations and London Waterloo as attempts are made to restore normal services.

Two trains an hour are running from Woking to Portsmouth.

A spokesman from South West Trains said: ‘We are sorry for the disruption that our passengers will face this evening as a result of the earlier incident at Surbiton.

‘We are working closely with the emergency services and Network Rail to start running services again as quickly as possible.

‘However we do expect major disruption to our services throughout the evening.’
