GRIDLOCKED traffic caused long rush-hour delays after a woman was knocked over by a car.
The pedestrian was a 20-year-old University of Portsmouth student who was crossing the road when she was struck by a dark blue Ford Fiesta.
Police said the crash happened at around 4.45pm yesterday in Queen Street, Portsea, and led to a section of the road being cordoned off for just over two hours.
This caused long tailbacks as officers directed traffic to turn around.
The woman was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, suffering from a head injury that is not believed to be serious.
