VOLUNTEERS are needed to record speeding motorists as part of a speedwatch scheme in Warsash.

Michele Corrigan, co-ordinator for Warsash Community Speedwatch, said the group, which shares equipment with a similar scheme in Titchfield, needed people to write down details of motorists who speed past its flashing indicator sign.

These details are then submitted to Park Gate Police Station where the information is loaded on to the Police National Computer.

Each correct entry generates a letter which is then sent to the vehicle owner. If three letters are sent, then the police will pay the owner a visit.

The volunteers will receive full training on using the equipment, which does not include a speed gun. To get in touch email mcorrigan1951@gmail.com.

A similar scheme, which covers Fareham, is also in need of volunteers. To find out more email jessica.mcnally@hampshire.pnn.police.uk.
