THE driver of a vehicle which ended up on its roof in a ditch has been arrested.

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol following the crash at about 8.45am yesterday.

All three emergency services were called to deal with the scene at the junction of Cott Road and the A32, north of Wickham.

The black Ford Fusion had left the road and was upside-down in a ditch.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Firefighters helped remove the man from his car and he was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, Portsmouth as a precaution.

Police spokeswoman Hayley Court described his injuries as slight.

The road did not need to be closed.

But the rescue operation did cause severe congestion during rush hour.

Anyone who witnessed the crash should contact the police on 0845 0454545 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. He will answer bail next month.
