A WOMAN was trapped under a train after falling onto the tracks.

Trains between Fratton and Portsmouth Harbour were stopped for about three hours following the incident at about 11pm last night.

Fire crews from Cosham and Southsea were called to the scene after being alerted by South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

About 15 firefighters worked for more than an hour to free her from under a carriage.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for treatment.

It is not yet known how serious her injuries are.
