A WOMAN was taken to hospital after she was rescued from her car when it hit a telegraph pole.

Firefighters from Gosport Fire Station cut the roof off the silver Hyundai to save the woman, who was in her 70s.

The accident happened at the junction of May’s Lane and St Mary’s Road in Stubbington at 9.30am yesterday.

Firefighter Pete Broomfield said: ‘We removed the roof to get the lady out and she was taken to hospital with suspected neck and back injuries.’
